Summer school will not offer initial credit courses; Algebra II (H) and Pre-Calculus (H), this year. Recovery credit opportunities will still be offered over the summer. Students will be allowed to take classes through NovaNet as offered in the past.

What kind of programs will be offered at Green Hope High School over the summer?
Two options for summer school  are available:

Option I - Green Hope High School Courses
Option II - NCVPS

Can I drop the course ?
Students wanting to drop a summer course must do so by the third day of class to avoid receiving a grade.  Students that drop a course after the third day of class will receive a WF .

Who is entitled to enroll in Green Hope High’s Summer School Program?

Any student currently enrolled in a WCPSS’s school may enroll for summer school. Priority will be given to students using the following criteria:

  • Seniors needing to graduate (2013)
  • Juniors needing to graduate (2014)
  • Other base students needing credit can be served at the discretion of the school principal after junior and senior needs are met.

Classes offered ?

Green Hope High’s summer school program will be NovaNet based. NovaNet classes are part-day classes. NovaNet is used for repeat credit only, unless there is a critical need for a priority student to take a first-time credit course for graduation. Graduation this year will be at Enloe HS on Thursday, August 9 at 7:00 PM. Seniors are required to report early for a graduation practice at 5:30 p.m. on August 9, 2012.

NCVPS Courses

Enrollment for NCVPS must be approved by GHHS’s Principal

The North Carolina Virtual Public School (NCVPS) established by the North Carolina State Board of Education, is an online school community serving K-12 public school students throughout the state of North Carolina . The Characteristics of Successful Online Learners is attached with the official Guidelines and Procedures for registering for a NCVPS online course.

The purpose of the NCVPS is to provide courses that students are unable to take at their local schools. In other words NCVPS will provide courses that augment a student’s program of study. List of possible summer courses is located under Dual Enrollment on the GHHS website.
