Residential Anatomy & Physiology Camp

Technological Advances in Reproductive Biology Summer Science Program
Grade Level: Rising Juniors or Seniors (must have completed Biology)
Program Date: June 16-27, 2008

Description/Selection Process: This program attempts to address the science behind reproductive technologies by introducing basic reproductive physiology and looking at technological applications from a comparative standpoint between humans and animals. The program is sponsored by the Burroughs Wellcome Fund and is a collaborative effort between Wingate University and NC State University. Participants will receive free accommodations and full housing and meals at Wingate University . The deadline for application materials is May 16, 2008 (post-marked) and must include a recommendation from a science teacher or school counselor. Description/Selection Process: The Summer College is comprised of ten programs and institutes in a variety of disciplines and varying degrees of difficulty. Students live in a university resident hall during a four-week summer session and enroll in two college courses for which they earn up to seven hours of college credit. Description/Selection Process: High School Honors is a six-week residential or commuting program in which students can either take two Boston University undergraduate courses, earning up to eight credits, or conduct scientific research (must be rising 12th). Summer Challenge is a two-week residential program in which students enroll in two non-credit seminars designed specifically for the programs (must be rising 10-12). The Summer Challenge Program is ideal for students who wish to explore college-level work without the pressure of grades. Aviation Career Education (ACE) Camps

Description/Selection Process: The Division of Aviation of the NCDOT is sponsoring summer camps for high school and middle school students to promote aviation and aviation careers. The camps will be held in Greensboro and Lumberton during the week of June 22nd for senior high school students and in Greensboro the week of June 15th for middle school students. The Greensboro high school camp will be an overnight camp and the Lumberton camp will be a day camp, and thus is open to students able to be dropped off at camp in the morning and picked up during the day. The REAL (Realistic Education About Life) Teen Council-Sponsored by Waketeen
Grade Level: Ages 13-18

Description/Selection Process: The REAL Teen Council is a youth-led, volunteer peer education program for young leaders. As community leaders, Teen Council members are trained to provide accurate, factual information to their peers about relevant youth health issues. Teen Council members meet weekly at Wake Teen Medical Services. The council is limited to 20 active members at any one time. Students should be interested in youth health issues, be committed to helping others, reliable, and responsible. Applications are available in student services.
