Morning Announcements
Sports:

Men's Soccer State Championship game is tonight at 7:30pm at Wake Med Soccer Park. The opponent is Greensboro Page. Admission will be $8.00.

The Girl's Basketball team would like to wish the boys soccer team good luck tonight in the State Championship Game. We support you. Go Falcons!!

Congratulations to the JV Boys Basketball team for beating Jordan last night by a score of 65-44 and Leesville Tuesday night by a score of 69-44.  Their record is now 2-0. Ches is averaging 17 and John is averaging 20 points in the two games.

Congratulations to the Green Hope Wrestling team for a 49-20 victory over Athens Drive. The standoff performances were turned in by Justin, John, Jared and Will.

The Girl's Basketball Team is looking for two responsible people to be the score keeper and video person. You will become part of a hard working team, we need your help, please see Coach Robinson.

Congratulations to the Varsity Girl's Basketball team for defeating Durham Jordan 59-51. Great Job Girls! We play Monday night against Athens Drive. Come out and support our team.

 

General:

Congratulations to Eerum. She won 2 nd place in nationally for a Bio Dreaming Poster Competition. She won $250.00 a trip to DC and her conference registration.

This week the Foreign Language Department is holding our annual Thanksgiving Food Drive! In an effort to help families this holiday season, the Foreign Language Department is asking that you donate food items. Please bring canned food items or bagged items such as stuffing, beans, and cereals to your Foreign Language class all this week. Thank you for your support.

Attention all Seniors: Jostens will be here on December 8, during lunch in the Commons Area. They will deliver rings and take final orders for cap and gowns.

Attention All Students: Come and check out the new “Falcons” flannel pants ONLY available at the school store. A great price $25.00. The store is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday only at lunchtime. The store will be holding a silent auction for the next week…. Come and place your bid at the school store.

Seniors: If you haven't had your senior portrait taken for the yearbook yet, here is your last chance! Prestige Portraits will be at Green Hope on December 1st. Sign up in Student Services this week for your last chance to be included in the senior section of this year's yearbook. The cost for senior portraits is $15.00.

This is a reminder that the after school activity bus will not be running on Wednesday until further notice.

November's Character Trait is Courage! Having the determination to do the right thing even when others don't; the strength to follow your conscience rather than the crowd, attempting difficult things that are worthwhile. Courage does not always roar, Sometimes it is a quiet voice at the end of the day, saying, “I will try again tomorrow.”

Attention all students: you can design the logo and t-shirt for the 1 st Annual Green Hope 5K Fun Run/Walk sponsored by the Athletic Booster. It will be held on Saturday, February 27. Our theme is Mardi Gras, so please release your artistic talent. The student with the winning design will receive a $25.00 I-Tunes gift card. Submit your entry to Ms. Poppe in room 304 by November 24.

You are invited to the weekly Arts Seminars, presented in the second half of lunch on Tuesdays in the auditorium. We hope to see you there.

 

Student Services:

Summer Ventures in Science and Mathematics is a cost-free, state-funded 4-week summer program for academically talented North Carolina residents who may pursue careers based in science and mathematics. The summer program is for current sophomores and juniors and is presented by the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics at six of the UNC system campuses. For more details about the 4-week summer program, visit www.summerventures.org . To apply, print the application, fill out the student sections and then have a math or science teacher fill out the teacher section. The application must be turned in to Student Services by January 13, 2010.

The Hampton University of Admissions and the Raleigh Chapter National Hampton Alumni Association invite you to attend an On-Site Admissions and information reception in Raleigh on Monday, November 30 at 4:30pm at Martin St. Baptist Church (Johnson Building) 1001 E. Martin Street, Raleigh NC 27601. For more information about participating in the on-site admissions process, please go to Student Services.

Gardner-Webb University is having an Athletic Training Day on Saturday, November 21 from 10:30-7:00pm.This is an opportunity for prospective students and their families to learn more about the university, the Athletic Training Major, and the Athletic Training Profession. Sophomores:  if you are interested in attending the Hugh O'Brien Youth (HOBY) Leadership Seminar at NC State University, June 11-13, 2010, please contact Allison Tibbetts, counselor in Student Services regarding the application process.  You may also go to the HOBY websites for additional information www.hoby.org or www.hobync.org

Seniors trying to meeting the January 1st College Application Deadline should have their request for transcripts and counselor statements in by December 4.

Clubs:

Attention Key Club Members: We will be meeting today after school in the auditorium.

Health Awareness Club will meet Tuesday during the first half of lunch. Special healthy and delicious snacks are to be prepared. Come with an appetite.

Attention RASL: We will meet during the first half of lunch today in room 2322. New members are always welcome.

Attention Sewing For a Cause Club Members: We are in need of fabric to complete projects for the Ronald McDonald House blankets. If you or someone you know has fabric, ask them if they would like to donate it to our club. Donations will be accepted in room 2220.

There will be a Science Bowl meeting today during the second half of lunch in room 3204.
